Ben Roy
COMEDY CENTRAL | HBO | HULU | VARIETY’S TOP TEN COMICS TO WATCH
If you aren’t familiar with Ben Roy, he’s been taking comedy audiences by storm since 2004, bringing an unparalleled energy and unique voice to the stage. Often compared to Lewis Black or Bill Hicks due to his passionate, ranting approach, Roy has a style that is definitively his own.
Roy cut his comedic teeth in Denver at the world famous Comedy Works. Since then, Ben has been selected to perform at the Montreal Just for Laughs Comedy Festival (for New Faces, The Nasty Show, and his own hour show), Just For Laughs Toronto, Just For Laughs Chicago, The New York Comedy Festival, Austin’s South by Southwest festival (where he was an official invitee for both music and comedy in the same year), and many more.
Roy has been featured on HBO’s Funny as Hell series; as well as on the Comedy Central shows Adam DeVine’s House Party, Corporate, @midnight, This Is Not Happening, and TruTV’s Talk Show The Game Show. Ben has also released five stand-up comedy albums and was listed as one of Variety’s Top 10 Comics to Watch. In 2023 his first streaming stand up special, ‘HYENA’, was released on YouTube by 800LB Gorilla Media. That same year NPR listed ‘HYENA’ as one of their Top Specials Of 2023. From that success, ‘HYENA’ was licensed by HULU and began streaming on their platform in July of 2024.
Along with fellow Denver Comedians Adam Cayton-Holland and Andrew Orvendahl (who collectively perform as The Grawlix), Ben also created, wrote, and starred in the original comedy series Those Who Can’t that ran for three seasons on TruTV and HBOMax.
He’s also currently the host of two podcasts, 97.9 The Rat Race on the All Things Comedy network, and The Grawlix Saves the World.
In addition to stand-up comedy, acting, and writing, Roy is a prolific musician and the current lead singer of pop punk outfit SPELLS, signed to indie label Snappy Little Numbers Records.
Andrew Orvendahl is a comedian from Denver, Colorado. He has performed on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon as well as on Comedy Central. He has released three albums, and his first special, DOOM MATH, was released in 2024. His stand-up mixes true stories from his life with winning observational comedy. Andrew is 1/3 of the comedy trio The Grawlix, who created the sitcom Those Who Can’t and currently host the podcast Advice Fight.
In 2007, Orvendahl was a core member of “Los Comicos Super Hilariosos,” a regular show that welcomed big-name comics like Arj Barker, Maria Bamford, Tig Notaro, and Moshe Kasher. The group eventually dissolved and reformed as The Grawlix in 2011.[10]
The Grawlix consists of Andrew Orvendahl, Ben Roy and Adam Cayton-Holland. The trio performed a monthly show at The Bug Theater in Denver, featuring standup sets from each of the principals, a variety of national guest comedians, and screenings of their web series videos, produced by The Nix brothers.
